Lower Mission Lake, Crow Wing County (ID 18-0243)Lower Mission Lake is located in central Crow Wing County, north of the city of Merrifield. The lake is 698 acres in size, including 452 acres of littoral zone. Lower Mission Lake reaches a maximum depth of 27 feet and is connected to Upper Mission Lake through a channel. Water clarity in the lake exceeds eight feet and supports a diverse and abundant aquatic plant community, including curly leaf pondweed. Water clarity and curly leaf pondweed can affect recreational activities on the lake and its aesthetic enjoyment at times. The lake also supports populations of walleye, northern pike, crappie, largemouth bass, bluegill, and pumpkinseed sunfish. The lake has been stocked with walleye during the 1990s, but is primarily managed as a northern pike, largemouth bass, and panfish fishery.
